Rosanna Terracciano ·
A professional dance artist for 20+ years, originally from Calgary, Rosanna Terracciano experiments within and around the boundaries of flamenco, dance, contemporary performance and short film, driven by an urgency to expose the quiet and introverted aspects of all that surrounds her in art and life. Her solo performance works and short films have been presented throughout Canada and Europe. She is the 2017 recipient of the Jacqueline Lemieux Prize for dance from the Canada Council for the Arts.

My folk dance of language and seed
“My folk dance of language and seed” brings Terracciano (live) in duet with her dad (projected on film). It is an interplay between flamenco dance and song and her parents’ Neapolitan language, hand gestures and expressions. It includes choreography, sound and video design by Terracciano and features Vincenzo Terracciano on video.
Created and developed with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Calgary Arts Development Authorty, DJD Dance Centre Creative Residency Program (Calgary), Studio La Lola (Montréal) and ReLoCate (Calgary).
The completed work is 20 minutes; however, it is also being developed into a version for an evening-length show (work in progress, 45-60 minutes). The work includes one performer, who is also the sole person touring.
Important tech requirements include a projector for both video and connected sound, and white wall behind the performer as a projection surface. Lighting requirements are minimal/flexible, and the dancer will provide a small dance floor (if needed) to protect floor from flamenco shoes.
