Creative Community Shout Out | Metrovino

Springboard Performance is grateful to all of our sponsors, donors, and community supporters. For our inaugural Creative Community Shout Out we want to profile Calgary’s own Metrovino Fine Wines, a long-term supporter of Springboard Performance and Fluid Festival.

Metrovino Fine Wines is an independently owned boutique wine shop and tasting space in the historic Beltline district. Headed by owner Richard Harvey and his team of dedicated staff, Metrovino is acclaimed for their product knowledge and attentive customer service.

When you walk into the shop, we want nothing more than to acquaint you with our unique collection of wines. Our owner, Richard Harvey, has long been in the business of curating a selection of wines that represent the classics of the wine world as well as the esoteric and hard to find. Everything that hits our shelves has been chosen with intention, and only by tasting first.

Our primary focus is Old World wine, with French wine representing over half of the shop. We also have a tremendous section of German Riesling, Sherry, new wave Australian, Austrian, Spanish, rosé, etc., etc., etc.! Stop in to see for yourself and to experience our excitement as we chat with you about our favourite bottles and your new discoveries.

We also have many exclusive products that can only be found here at Metrovino within Alberta. In some cases, we are the only home for these wines in Western Canada or even the whole country! We're able to have these exclusives due to long-term relationships formed directly with our producers.

Metrovino has been a dedicated supporter of Springboard Performance's Fluid Movement Arts Festival, hosting our annual Community Potluck since 2013. The Community Potluck was started as a way for local artists and the national and international artists in town for the festival to celebrate over fine wine and culinary pairings. The Community Potluck began in the homes of donors and community arts leaders before it soon turned into an annual party to help kick off the start of Fluid Festival. With the generous support of Metrovino, our annual Community Potluck has grown and we are celebrating our fifth annual Community Potluck at Metrovino in October 2018. We have been lucky to have had the support of Metrovino, who help make it possible to celebrate the great community of artists and cultural movers and shakers that make Calgary great.

From their ever growing collection of fine wines to public and private tastings, there is always something new to discover at Metrovino. On October 25th, Metrovino is hosting an introductory (sold-out) wine-tasting titled For the Love of Wine.
