16:00 -17:30 PM - KickStart Pan-Asian Round Table, at DJD Dance Centre Studio Theatre

In recent years, representation in the arts have been a prevalent discussion, which in turn resulted in a huge wave of creation by artists of colour. In the last year alone, pan-asian artists have received a lot of exposure in mainstream television and film, but locally, this wave has reverberated in the Canadian arts scene. Pan-asian visual, theatre, and dancer artists are coming out stronger than ever to tell stories that connect their cultural identities with the realities of being an artist in 2018. Thus, this panel discussion will explore the experiences, initiatives, opportunities and challenges of being a Pan Asian Canadian professional artist.

Facilitated by Kodie Rollan & involving Pan-Asian professional artists from Calgary and across Canada.
